Vienna Gaels travel to Berlin on 11 June for the final round of the South/East Europe Gaelic football championship and there’s plenty on the line.
The men head into the 8-team tournament currently top of the standings, despite mixed fortunes so far in 2016. Holding a narrow lead over hosts Berlin, a run to the final and perhaps even a tournament victory is needed to hold on to the title and claim regional bragging rights for the third time in four years.
Vienna find themselves in a group alongside Prague, Munich and Berlin ‘B’.
As for the ladies, they have been handed a tough draw in the expanded 10-team tournament, which includes teams from the Benelux region, with Munich and Luxembourg the opposition.
They will be hoping to emulate last season’s third place finish in the region.
The squads for Saturday are as follows:
Rob McMahon | Anita Deignan |
Andreas Magerle | Anna Psintrou |
Darren Gleeson | Alice Hamlton |
