Brave trio venture to Galicia

SAM_1522Three men will go down in Vienna Gaels folklore following their trip to northern Spain on 11-14 September for the opening round of the Pan-European Championship.

These warriors were Darren Gleeson, Andreas Magerle and Justin Walker, who were the Vienna’s sole representatives at the event. The trio bolstered the squad of our Italian friends Padova, which performed admirably in the 15-team tournament in A Estrada.

Three wins for the team gave them an 11th place finish, while Amsterdam beat Paris 1-6 to 1-3 in the final.

In the ladies competition, South/East regional champs Munich Colmcilles finished fourth out of 10 teams. The talented German side lost in the semi-final to eventual winners Belgium, who beat Fillas De Breogán 3-10 to 3-7 in the decider.

All eyes on Vienna

With our heroic trio back at training, the focus now shifts to the Pan-European final event in Vienna on 17 October. Early signs point to an impressive event with large number of teams taking part, so keep an eye out for more information very soon.
