About

Vienna Gaels GAA Club is one of Austria’s most international and welcoming clubs.

The Gaels are Austria’s representative in an ever-growing and popular European Gaelic Games scene.

The club was founded in 2004 by a small number of die-hard advocates of the sport alongside curious and driven locals.

Both men’s and women’s teams were developed and began to compete in regional and European competition.

The club gained significant international recognition in 2012 after hosting the Pan-European championships in Vienna with 23 teams and over 350 players taking part. In 2015, the club hosted the event again on an even bigger scale.

2013 was a standout year for the club, as the men’s team became both ‘Eastern & Central Europe’ and ‘Pan-European’ champions, a feat which was repeated two years later on home soil.

The traditionally Gaelic football-focused club broadened its horizons in 2015 with entry into the European Gaelic Handball Championship in Italy and the Gaels went one step further in 2016, making history as the first club to enter into all three European GAA final tournaments.
